Choose by the batch you actually brew
The 01 is the compact choice for smaller brews; choose the 02 when you need more room for a larger batch or want one dripper for different serving sizes. HARIO labels the 01 for 1–2 cups and the 02 for 1–4 cups. Those are the maker's serving bands, not US 8-ounce mug measurements; the coffee that reaches your cup depends on your dose, the water you pour and what the wet grounds retain.
If you already own an 02 and brew mostly single mugs, try your normal recipe in it before buying an 01. Use the matching 02 paper and check whether your usual recipe works before buying a second dripper.
What the 01 and 02 dimensions show
HARIO USA's pages for the clear plastic 01 and clear plastic 02 list these product dimensions and cup labels, checked on 18 October 2026. Both models are made from AS resin.
Specification | V60 01 | V60 02 |
|---|---|---|
Width | 115 mm | 137 mm |
Depth | 100 mm | 116 mm |
Height | 82 mm | 102 mm |
HARIO cup label | 1–2 cups | 1–4 cups |
Material | AS resin | AS resin |
The 02 is 22 mm wider, 16 mm deeper and 20 mm taller. The extra height gives more headroom for a larger pour; the extra width and depth take up more counter space. The dimensions alone do not tell you the bed depth for your dose, because that also depends on how much coffee you use and how the paper sits.
Match the paper to the size
The 01 takes 01 paper and the 02 takes 02 paper. Buy the pack that names your dripper and check the product number on the box. HARIO's 02 filter listing is easy to misread because its web address still contains "for-01-drippers"; the page itself identifies the 02 filter and lists it for 1–4 cups. The address is not the size label.
A mismatched paper can sit poorly, fold inward or leave gaps at the cone wall, which changes how water moves through the bed. Use the named size rather than forcing a larger paper into a smaller cone or folding a smaller one to fit. If you are buying a first setup, order the dripper and its matching papers together so you are not left with a cone you cannot brew with.
Keep the pour below the rim
Seat the paper flat and keep the water level below the paper rim. The 01 has less headroom, so a full single-mug batch can rise close to the top; pour in stages and give the bed time to drain. The 02's taller cone gives more margin for a larger batch, but it does not make an oversized dose a good fit. Leave room for the bed to expand during the bloom.
